OUR STORY

Kuna Mushrooms was born in the mountains surrounding Quito, Ecuador, in 2021 — though its roots go much deeper.

Growing up, our founder spent time exploring forests with his grandmother, learning that nature often holds the answers we're looking for. Years later, while facing constant mental fatigue and low energy during the early stages of building his first business, those memories inspired him to look back to nature for support.

As he researched functional mushrooms, he discovered the remarkable potential of Lion's Mane for focus, Cordyceps for energy, and Reishi for balance. But there was a problem: many products on the market relied on mycelium grown on grain instead of the mushroom's fruiting body, where many beneficial compounds are naturally concentrated.

That's when the idea for Kuna was born.

Starting from a small space in Quito, we began sourcing organic mushrooms from Ecuador's cloud forests and producing extracts made exclusively from fruiting bodies. What started as a personal pursuit quickly grew through friends, family, and customers who experienced the difference for themselves.
